Who Gives A Damn

I couldn't afford a new guitar back then and had been itching to get an acoustic. So I waited till the day after Thanksgiving and rushed to Guitar Center when the door opened at an early morning hour. Found a bargain Fender with an incredible clean sound. I was so excited. Rushed home and started playing and strumming. Minutes later "Who Gives A Damn" was born. This song isn't my favorite. But many people dig the catchy hook. It is about finding faith in people. The story behind it is real and very personal. Even though found it ridiculously circus-ish in the hindsight now.

I was just a happy naive girl landed in this strange town called LA/OC. No families, no friends, and no money. Unfortunately came across the path of a mentally disturbed druggie and went through a year long ordeal of threats, harassements and abuses.
While people I thought were my friends (and even people I didn't know) not only wanted me to drown but threw stones at me while I barely kept my head above the water. I struggled and swam to the shore. Found the release in music and songwriting then slowly rose up from the ruin. And here I am a better person than ever was.

Yeah, who gives a damn? There are bad people out there. Karma will take care of that. A good moral character will eventually defy all obstacles. I wish the song can be an inspiration to anyone who's questioning their faith. You don't have to be a douche or bitch like many people in this town. Please don't give up your faith in people. Just love.
