Rockin' Christmas Songs

Here is a playlist of rockin' Christmas songs.  Starting with some original compositions and roll to the holiday classics.  Get ready to rock your stockings off.

1. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You 
The song was released in 1994 and became one of the best modern Christmas songs.  Mariah Carey proved again she's more than a pretty songstress but a talented songwriter.



2. The Pretenders - 2000 Miles 
The track is from The Pretender's 1984 Learning to Crawl album. Chrissie Hynde's vocal is irresistibly mesmerizing.


3. The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York
Released in 1987 featuring singer Kirsty MacColl.


4. Queen - Thank God it's Christmas 
The song was written by Bryan May and Roger Taylor and released in 1984.


5. The Kinks - Father Christmas 
Release as a single in 1977.


6. The Beach Boys - Little Saint Nick 
Released as a single in 1963.


7. John Lennon - Happy Xmas 
Released in 1971. Produced by Phil Spector and featureed backing vocals from the Harlem Community Choir.


8. The White Stripes - Candy Cane Children
Released as a single in 2002. The song features Jack White's heavy riffs and drums sound.


9. The Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack
The soundtrack is from Tim Burton's 1993 motion picture. Composed by Danny Elfman.


10. Smashing Pumpkins - Christmastime
The track is part of the 1997 Christmas compilation album A Very Special Christmas 3.



Holiday Classic



1. Jimi Hendrix - Little Drummer Boy 
Jimi Hendrix Christmas compilation Merry Christmas And Happy New Year was released in 2010. The album contains three tracks from Hendrix's rehearsal sessions in 1969.


2. Bruce Springsteen - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town 
Bruce Springsteen's rendition of this Christmas classic has become the staple of holiday rock n' roll soundtrack.


3. Weezer – We Wish You A Merry Christmas 
From the band's 2008 Christmas album.


4. Sonic Youth - Nightmare Before Christmas
Sonic Youth performed live at All Tomorrow's Party.


5. Chuck Berry - Run Rudolph Run
The song was written by Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie. Berry recorded the song in 1968 and made it one of the most popular Christmas songs.


6. Bobby Helms - Jingle Bell Rock
Released in 1957. Written by Joe Beal and Jim Boothe.


7. Louis Armstrong - Zat You, Santa Claus 
Written by Jack Fox.


8. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24
