Experiece Hendrix at Greek Theater

Experience Hendrix show at Greek this past Sun was phenomenon. The show was a historical event celebrating Jimi Hendrix’s music. The lineups were impressive including Hendrix’s bandmates Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, blues giant Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson, Robby Kreiger, Brad Whitford and many more musical talents. The three hour amazing guitar performances was definitely the most high caliber show I’ve ever seen for a long while.

Eric Gales kicked off the show with Pruple Haze. When Eric Johnson took over the stage and performed Hendrix’s songs, I was totally in awe. He completely blew me away with his unique blues-jazz fingering and techniques. Hendrix’s inspiration, Buddy Guy, performed his signature classic blues in the end of the show. The crowd just went wild and echoed the tune with him.
I was so excited to see the legendary Buddy performing live. It’s hard to believe that he still plays as solid as ever. He’s as great an entertainer as a guitar player. He knows how to work the crowd.

The crowds were really cool. Many of them were in their 40s and 50s or hippies generation. You know these guys really KNOW music. They would strike up an easy conversation with you about Hendrix, guitar, and music. I thought I know a lot about music, but hey these guys are serious hardcore music lovers. I adore them! I adore these cute friendly hippies. They are a great generation. A generation with dreams, passion and without pretense.

Experience Hendrix was such a memorable show. I’m glade that I was able to witness some of the greatest musicians performing together showcasing their talents. I felt that passion from the stage and from the hippies sitting next to me. They are alive. And I am alive.
