  • Songwriter Hal David died on September 1st at the age of 91.  He's the award-winning songwriting partner of Burt Bacharach.  (Rolling Stone)
  • Rolling Stones will release a compilation album GRRR! with two new tracks Gloom And Doom and One Last Shot in November.  (Billboard)
  • U2 released their first record U2-3 EP on September 1, 1979. 
  • Clash received GQ Men of the Year award on September 2, 2003.

  • Thom Yorke's Atoms for Peace will release their new single Default on September 10th.  Their new album is scheduled to be released in 2013.  Listen to the track here.
  • Roger Waters was born in Surrey, England on September 6, 1943.  He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Pink Floyd in 1996. 
  • Video Killed the Radio Star was released on September 7, 1979 by British group The Buggles on Island Records from their debut album The Age of Plastic.  It was the first music video broadcasted on MTV in 1981.
  • Chrissie Hynde was born in Akron, Ohio on September 7, 1951.
  • Paul McCartney was awarded French Legion of Honour for his contribution to music.  (Guardian)
  • Otis Redding was born in Georgia on September 9, 1941.
  • This September marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's monumental Nevermind.  Single Smells Like Teen Spirit was released on September 10, 1991 and followed by the release of album Nevermind on September 24.

  • German film composer Hans Zimmer was born on  September 12, 1957.  He has received four Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award. 
  • Led Zeppelin set to release Celebration Day film in theaters on October 17 and audio and video on November 19.  The film is taken from their famous 2007 London reunion concert.  (NBC)
