Installing Android Apps on Your Phone

Some people asked how to install Android applications on their phones.  So here is a quick instruction guide for you.  Follow the simple steps below.  Make sure your Android has a SD card to store the apps first.

1.  Tap Home.
2.  Tap Menu.
3.  Tap Settings.
4.  Tap Applications.
5.  Check "Unknown sources" if the option is available.
6.  Tap Development.
7.  Check "USB debugging" and "Stay awake".

Oppenheimer, Story of a Physicist

Julius Robert Oppenheimer, one of the most important scientists of the 20th century, was born on April 22, 1904.  Besides being a brilliant theoretical physicist, he is known to most in the world as the Father of the Atomic Bomb.  He led Manhattan Project during World War II and developed the first nuclear weapon.  After the war, he quickly became the praised war hero and was pedestaled on the cover of Time magazine.  However, his life took a drastic turn in the midst of post war political drama.  Oppenheimer, once a ingenious young scientist from New York and a well known household name, was made a martyr. 

Oppenheimer's biography, American Prometheus, written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin won 2006 Pulitzer prize.  University of California Berkeley dedicated an online exhibit to celebrate the centennial of Oppenheimer.  The website features a great short biography that chronicles the physicist's life from his aloof childhood, charismatic adolescence to disgraced outcast.

Genius: Richard Feynman

A genius was born on May 11, 1918. Richard Feynman became the greatest minds of the 20th century.

Recommend this biography "Genius" by James Gleick. A nicely written book into the life and science of the most brilliant scientist of modern time. Also enjoy the books Feynman penned Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman and What Do You Care What Other People Think. A different, lighter and humorous side of this ingenious physicist is displayed in these two books.

Bill Gates bought the entire Feynman's lectures and made a Project Tuva. A wealth of knowledge for the curious minds.

Will Conficker be Y2K redux?

Conficker C is predicted to go live on April 1. Is it April fool's day hoax or a serious security threat?

Whatever the hype around this naughty worm is, it just feels like Y2K all over again.

The good news... so far... is that Conficker seems to be quiet in Europe and Asia where it's already April. But the security expert warned that the state of the art botnet attribute of Conficker intends to lurk around the network and wait for the worm's author's command for attacks.
